Miscellaneous / Help with a coworker(book selection)

So my boss(woman) at work recently had a heart attack. She has known about my diet for a while now but either thought I was wrong or just didn't care to change. Now of course she has a bit more motivation and I'm looking for a way to get her on board. Paleo would be great but at least low carb will fix 90% for her anyway. I gave her a copy of "what if it's all been a big fat lie" by Taubes and she's a bit closer. I want to give her a book, she is a big book reader. Which one do you think would be best? She is a very science driven person. So either good calories bad calories or maybe a bit easier to read Why we get fat. Or also Protein Power since i think it has more practical stuff and diet plans in it.  Any thoughts?

Diet and nutrition / Interesting Diet Coke reaction

So after 1 month of no artificial sweeteners i had a cheat coke. It was about 4 hours after a meal so i was perfectly fine hunger wise. Just as i was finishing the coke, about 30 mins from the start i felt hypoglycemic. Now i use to get that way from time to time pre-paleo. I would need food very quickly. Cold sweats and everything. Today was no where near that bad, but post paleo i simply never get that way. If thats not proof that there is an insulin response to Diet coke then i dont know what it could mean.

So this is the first day of stopping my diet coke habit. I will post each day. I may supplement the sodas with caffeine free diet drinks so i can ease off them a bit more slowly. Or maybe just swap to carbonated water. Is there any paleo issue with that?

And for some visual appeal my lunch :)

Diet and nutrition / Making sure im doing it right.

I couldn't decide if i should post this here or in the Food log forum, either way.

Ive been paleo +whole milk for about 1.5 months now. Pretty much ~95%, other than diet coke and crappy walmart meat. I just want to make sure im getting all the nutrients i should be. The reason i ask is that i have been getting aphthous sore recently. I have gotten them my entire life so thats nothing new. But it seems they have been a bit more frequently lately. I cut back on the cokes pretty drastically. I use to be at ~6 a day, not down to ~1. Though the last few days before the sore came up i was increased. Also the last sore i got was right after i at a jack in the box meal. Two monsters showed up in my mouth the next day. I did eat Chilis veggies and hamburger patty a few days before this one. As paleo as i could get there but im sure no where near perfect.

Typical day:

Breakfast:
2 bacon, 2 eggs, 2 sausage, banana, large glass of milk

Lunch:
2/3 hamburger patty fried in coconut oil black berries/raspberries, carrot

Dinner:
Beef of some descript, or sometimes 2 porkchops, spinach and almonds sauteed in the remaining grease.

Other items that i feather in:
Tuna, kippered herring, walnuts, duck fat, pasture butter, different types of fruit, broccoli.

Over all its probably 75% meat and fat to 25% plant. Are there any things that i seem that im lacking or perhaps better veggies to eat? I do also take Vit D, fish oil, and a probiotic. Thanks for the insight.

Exercises / Starting a new program

Looking for advice on a new program. Ive been paleo for about a month now. Not perfect, but 95% other than crap walmart meats. Ive been doing resistance strap weightlifting at home for most of that time as well. Im looking to lose the remaining body fat that i have and get down to some abs and build some decent bulk. Im 6`1" and 170 so by bulk i mean at most low BF and ~180-190. Not crazy amounts but a bit better for my wife is all lol. I just discovered the tabata technique and it looks quite interesting. My ideas so far. Everything is tabata based. Cardio days are sprints of 4 mins total, resistance days are 3, 4 min intervals. Im looking for complex movements and that really where i need the help i think. These are just my ideas jotted down. Are there any ideas you guys have to get a better overall workout?


Workout

Monday
Cardio sprints 4 mins

Tuesday
Curl and press (meaning bicep curl to overhead press)
Dips
Pushups

Wednesday
Cardio sprints

Thursday
Duffle bag standups (heavy duffle on shoulder, lay down on back, to sit up to stand up)
Janda sit-up
Plank bends

Friday
Cardio sprints

Saturday
Rows
Squats //deadlifts(need a bar for this)
Chin-ups

Sunday
Rest

Im guessing this routine will be harder that i can muster at the moment but its something to organize around.
