Miscellaneous / sunshine struggles
« on: January 17, 2017, 05:39:21 PM »
Even the brightest sunshine sometimes feels the cold darkness of dark clouds. Sometimes in taking care of everyone else we forget to take time for ourselves. After a very difficult year of drama and family illness,I really want to get back to my 'keeping it simple'  lifestyle.  I've been away for some time and feeling pretty horrible. I will continue my food journals starting tomorrow. Looking forward to being here again and getting back on my feet physically and mentally.
My energy is very low so I would like some ideas on how to work my way back in to a good exercise routine. I've done 20 mins on the treadmill from time to time but not consistently active enough. Hopefully the dietary changes will help get rid of the sluggishness...too much cheese, potatoes, grains  :(
Nice to be back  :)

awesome breakfast...soft boiled eggs and baked carrots

Carrots: long whole carrots, drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with rosemary spice and bake at 250 for an hour of so. Actually tastes like candy. Delicious!

Miscellaneous / marvellous meateaters
« on: February 18, 2015, 04:55:29 PM »
Some days, like today, I eat little more than a few simple servings of protein and feel such a sense of calm and good energy
I find all the vegies and fruit start to 'weigh' me down after a while and I am working at moving toward a mostly meat diet, so much simpler to just prepare a bit of fish or beef, boil and egg etc without all the sides to figure out. I even did a workout on the treadmill : )
Any thoughts or meal plan ideas to make this work without slowing down digestion would be appreciated.

Miscellaneous / Glorious groceries
« on: October 14, 2014, 07:05:35 AM »
Have you noticed how much simpler shopping has become? There are so many sections you can just pass right by
No bread, cakes, pies, cookies
No crackers, cereal, chips :'( ,noodles, rice
no cheese, milk, yogourt, icecream
no frozen pizza, lasagna, breaded meats/fish,frozen dinners
no juice, softdrinks, and other sugar filled beverages
So here it is (for me anyway)Meat, Vegies, Fruit
Choose a few items from meat/poultry, seafood departments:
beef, chicken, turkey, ham, veal, steak, roast, pork, fish fillets(frozen), shellfish(frozen or canned shrimp), salmon, tuna, eggs and more
Choose some vegies, fresh or frozen:
brocolli, cauliflour, lettuce, cucumbers, peppers, celery, tomatoes, and so many more
Choose a few fruits:
bananas, apples, avocados,berries,kiwis, pineapple etc
Still lots of options but only a few areas to shop from. So much simpler, healthier and cheaper too!
I drink a little coffee in the morning and water after that. Too easy ;D

Diet and nutrition / fish recipe ideas?
« on: December 16, 2013, 09:07:25 AM »
I would like to include more fish in my diet. I find fillets a bit bland just baked in the oven.. I love salmon mixed with mayo but need an alternative idea for that too. Any thoughts on spices or flavoring ideas, reipes for fish fillets and also a tasty option for canned salmon instead of mayo?

This breakfast was amazing! Eggs mixed with lightly cooked brocolli, peas. Then add a little medium salsa, salt, pepper and cayenne.Bake for 30-40 minutes at 350 until cooked through. Vey difficult to not consume the whole pan in one sitting ;D
