I have been struggling with weight for a number of years, and although not overly heavy (I'm 36, 5'3" and feel my best at 120#), I struggle greatly with losing fat and maintaining weight. I have been Paleo now for over a year. I was recently tested and I have no food intolerances. I inch up and up, reduce calories, stop snacking, drop fruit and nuts, etc. etc. but the things that used to work for me no longer do. The only way I can successfully lose weight is with the hcg diet. After I follow it perfectly, I get to my goal weight, am stable for a while but then the weight creeps back on. For example starting in July I gained 15# in 6 weeks, changing nothing. I sensed I really screwed up my metabolism by restricting cals (I was eating 1000-1200) so mid-September I began gradually increasing my cals to 1800 by eating just protein, fat, and some veggies to become fat adapted, in hopes that would help. I felt great. I never had cravings (no carb flu ever), never needed to snack in between meals, and was super happy eating this way. I even avoided the scale, which was huge since I was used to weighing myself every day. My clothes were getting tighter but I have heard it sometimes takes a few weeks, blah blah blah but then they became so tight they were unwearable so I stepped on the scale to check and to my horror, I had GAINED 15 more #. In just 7 weeks. WHAT????? Why is my body gaining weight eating this way? My hormones are normal, but my T3 is low and my adrenal numbers are low, low, average, high on the curve. Is it possible that this happened just because the adrenals and thyroid need to be treated? Could that really be the only reason?

I'm having a really hard time finding bacon that does not contain sugar. I can find the uncured, nitrate free bacon, but even those list sugar (although in small amounts) in the ingredients. Is this bacon still OK to eat and/or still considered Paleo because the sugar is such an insignificant amount? It might help to also mention I am working on healing a very broken metabolism and slowly upping my calories by eating just protein, veggies and healthy fats.

Can anyone tell me how to balance all this? I have been eating Paleo since October 20, 2013 and have essentially maintained my weight, give or take a few pounds. I eat between 1300-1600 cals a day. I'm 5'3" and 126# (would like to get to 120) and am training for a half marathon to be run on May 18. I want to eat the right amount of food to fuel my runs, but also lose weight. Can anyone help me? Thanks!

I am running a half marathon in May. I run regularly, have done 5k's and 10K's but will start more intense running in a few weeks for this marathon. What do you suggest I eat to help fuel me for the runs and on race day?

I am 18 days into the Paleo diet (no cheats!) and I am really struggling with genuine hunger. Not the stomach growl hunger, but the brain fog, weak muscles, empty stomach feeling hunger. I recently lost 20 pounds with the help of hcg (I'm 5'3", 120 is my lowest weight) and now I am eating Paleo to continue this healthy lifestyle and keep my weight stable. I have varied 2-5 pounds above my lowest weight and that is where I am struggling. I do track my food just to see if I need to change up any of the macronutrients I am eating and I find that if I do give in to my hunger I will gain. Like a few pounds overnight! Then I spend several days cutting back on cals to get the weight off but I am soooooo very hungry it's hard not to give in. I exercise regularly, running 2-3x a week, strength training 2x a week and cross fit once a week. A typical eating day for me is 3-4 egg veggie omelette cooked in coconut oil, olive oil, or ghee, meat and veggies (usually huge salad) for lunch and meat and veggie for dinner. Occasionally a small piece of fruit, smoothie, or nuts for a snack although I have no control with nuts so I have to be very careful with them. I don't know how much longer I can hold off not eating when this hunger comes, I'm headed for a major binging breakdown (even though it all might be Paleo friendly) if it doesn't stop!

Introductions / Newbie question about eating out

I've been eating paleo now for 11 days and have scoured this forum for ideas, tips, etc. but never posted. My question is about the food at Chipotle restaurant. We eat out very rarely but are getting Chipotle tonight before we take our kids trick-or-treating. I was wondering if Chipotle is Paleo friendly? I have looked on their site for ingredients and it looks ok, but there is always hidden junk I am leery of! When I have gone I get the chicken burrito bowl (no burrito obviously), lettuce, grilled fajita veggies, guac.
