Recipes and meal photos / Dehydrator ideas
« on: October 28, 2010, 08:53:13 AM »
I recently acquired a what?!?!?!?

Today I'm experimenting with apples.  One rack I used lemon juice and cinnamon.  Another rack honey & cinnamon & cocoa.
I'm excited to do veggies and herbs to make my own seasonings.  In the book that was provided it talks briefly of jerky...that is on the list to try.

I'm open to ideas!!!!

Diet and nutrition / Organic Vegetable Broth (from Fresh Market)
« on: October 22, 2010, 11:34:43 AM »
Was browsing through Fresh Market today and found this: Organic Vegetable Broth and Organic Mushroom Broth.  I took a picture on my phone of the ingredients for the Vegetable Broth....question is, is it paleo?  I only ask b/c if so then it may be something good to keep on hand for in a pinch when I don't have any homemade in the freezer....but it's definitely something I could do without as well.

Filtered Water
Organic Carrots, tomatoes, celery, onions, garlic, leeks, sea salt, bay leaves, parsley, thyme

I didn't take a picture of the Mushroom Broth but of course it was all organic as well.

Recipes and meal photos / Avocado Coconut "Dressing"
« on: August 18, 2010, 04:42:23 PM »
This is so easy it's almost silly....

In blender combine:
Avocado (1-3)
Coconut milk (1-3 c)
Lemon juice
Spices of choice

Tastes great and can be tweaked to your own liking.  Sub out the avocados for anything.  I'm going to try using strawberries for a fruitier flavor.

Food Journals / Lifestyle of the Rich and Paleo?
« on: July 01, 2010, 08:56:51 AM »
A few observations before I begin:
1.  I need to buy MORE in bulk.
2.  I need a second job to supplement the Paleo lifestyle.
3.  I need to become friends with farmers.

This is Paleo Bootcamp 101 and my feeble attempt to journal what goes down the hatch everyday.  But forgive me if I forget something along the way or ask something silly  ;)

I'm ready to kill it with a skillet... ;D

Diet and nutrition / Controlling cravings
« on: June 29, 2010, 11:02:40 AM »
To the many of you who have been doing Paleo consistently I ask this:
Do you ever get crazy cravings for anything NON-Paleo?
If so, how do you go about controlling it?

I am really trying to give Paleo my full effort but every now and then I just get a wicked craving for pizza! :o  When this happens I just make sure I have veggies, etc on hand to grab.  I'm trying to rid myself of these cravings so I'm hoping that they will soon go away.  Usually pizza would stand as my cheat meal on the weekend...during the week I seem to be okay.

Protein: I eat a lot of fish, turkey, chicken, pork or beef for me....just don't like it.
Fats: Almonds, coconut oil, avocado, walnuts, EVOO, almond butter, almond meal
Veggies: You name it I like it...well most anyway  ;)  Peppers, spinach, asparagus, broccoli & squash are my fav's.
Fruits:  Berries mostly

Any recommendations?  My goal is to make July my 31 day Paleo challenge to myself....where I am truly intentional with it.  I'm hoping that I can kick any cravings I have to the curb.
