For breakfasts I cook a huge frittata on Sunday, portion it up, some in fridge, some in freezer then I have breakfast for the week or longer which takes a minute to get ready.

Breakfast is usually my lunch actually so can't help you there. 2 meals a day works fine for me and saves time.

Dinner I always have a bunch of frozen stew in case I have no time to cook. If you never have time to cook then make a huge batch of stew the same day you do frittata, freeze portions and reheat when you need it.

But yeah, easiest paleo tip is to cook way more than needed any time you have time to cook. Fridge full of leftovers is awesome.

1. Initially you will see quite a big drop in weight as you lose all that excess water a body holds onto on a high carb diet. It should slow down a bit as time goes on. No you're not hurting yourself but at what is quite a high starting weight it might be a good idea to get checked out by a doctor. Just don't let them talk you out of the diet, most doctors do not keep up with current nutrition studies.

2. You have a lot of weight to lose, I would leave tubers alone completely.

3. It depends on how much salt you're having. Some salt is fine, lots of salt is not great.

4. Re sausages, you can give them up, but you won't. You don't need to anyway, if you're making them yourself then you know they're gluten free.

5. Same as earlier, you need to work out how much salt you're actually taking in each day before any real advice could be given.

6. Carbonated water is no problem.

7. Smoked meats, no idea really. Should be fine for the weight loss but I'd wonder about carcinogens down the track.

8. Most here have coffee and tea, shouldn't be an issue as long as you're not putting milk/sugar in there.

Yeah not a fan of juice or juicing. Too much of a fructose hit the vast majority of the time.

Plus how many carrots does it take to make a glass of juice for instance. Could you comfortably eat that many carrots in the same time it takes you to drink that glass of carrot juice? You're taking the sweet parts exclusively and leaving behind the rest of it.

Not a good idea in my opinion, juicing with Paleo.

My sister had the same issue, even when using what I thought was my foolproof method of eating the cravings away with lots of fatty meat etc.

She had moderate success with getting as much good food in as possible, then if the craving was still there she'd eat the smallest amount of fruit it would take to ease the craving. The amount it takes gets less and less but for her it never went away completely. The weight came off though and there is nothing wrong with a bit of fruit every day.

One thing though, alcohol will give you sugar cravings, due to how alcohol interacts with your liver firstly, but there also seems to be a mental component. Quitting alcohol (if you were drinking a significant amount) will make those cravings worse temporarily.

The two things (alcohol and sugar cravings) are connected:

nb. Not saying you're an alcoholic, just most of the articles that talk about alcohol and sugar have an alcoholic treatment slant.

It helped me with reflux after a bout of eating crappy food for a while.

Sprinting and walking are the good speeds.

With the sugar, there is no easy way to do it, you basically just have to stop. It doesn't take long to not even miss it in coffee/tea.

Aussie here and I buy from Iherb. Shipping is $8 and fast, and the prices are WAY lower than you will find in Aus.

Yep blogger is a great choice, as once you want to upgrade to your own site you'll probably want to use wordpress and you can migrate the whole site to wordpress very easily.

I tend to do that every single year, around christmas time I gain a bunch of weight with all the holiday food, then lose it again. Doesn't seem to be more difficult.

I look forward to reading the forum for help and suggestions.  I don't think it's going to be that big of a transition since I was on the CarbNite plan.  I do have one question:  I've read where some people do the Paleo plan where they do one or two cheat meals a week.  Does anyone do this?

Essentially, do what you need to do. Don't cheat just because people say you should here and there. Eat as well as you can, and if you find it mentally taxing (as some do) then make a set meal every week or better yet every two weeks your cheat meal. 80/20 might help you lose a bit of weight, but eating right goes way beyond weight loss. Remember, 80/20 is not a magical number it is just a very arbitrary fraction that has been said so many times people accept it as unassailable truth.

Hey all!

This is my 3rd week Paleo and I'm just looking for support, because I all hear from my family is "you are missing out, you should try this :)"

So why I went paleo? I'm fairly slim - 5'6" and 120lbs, I never had to work to keep weight down, but about 2 months ago ago I suddenly gained over 4lbs in 1 week, which I could not drop (I guess my metabolism has decided I'm old now), so I thought to try a diet, in addition to that I always had mild acne, sinus issues and digestive problems, and I always wanted to try all-bad-things-exclusive diet, but never could stick to it for more than 2 days. A week of paleo showed a major improvement in my sinus and skin, and I lost those nasty 4 lbs. I never could breathe as easily and people started complimenting my glowing skin. I decided I'll never go back to normal (or abnormal?) diet. I don't do cheat days, because obviously I cannot tolerate something, and I'm not risking putting it back in me. I made lot of mistakes, but I don't sweat it, I just avoid those mistakes as I move on. I work, so I allow myself to eat cafeteria meats, fish, soups and salads. As long as they are roasted without gravy and look very simple. I found few good and easy recipes that I make over weekends and enjoy through the week. I have a family with 2 kids, I cook non-paleo for them and paleo for myself. I do work out, but I'm very lazy, and need motivation.

Overweight is the new normal, not something I want to be a part of.

Your post is very interesting, Warren and I have long thought that the ballooning weight that is reported with getting older is actually your body slowly losing the fight against bad food rather than some unavoidable age related metabolism shift.  It seems like you have experienced that, made the change, and reversed the 'unavoidable' age related weight and energy issues.  So many just accept it , you noticed it early, made a change back to how we are meant to eat, and beat it. Simple and yet so very uncommon.
