Diet and nutrition / Re: Can i ask what WOE are we all doing?
« on: August 18, 2006, 10:44:29 AM »
i am eating meat and fats and some dairy only have been for 5 weeks now.
I wondered what everyone else is doing?

ps do we have a introduction formum for newbies?

and is there a FAQs ?

Hi again

I will put a general FAQ together once the forum grows big enough and we start getting the same questions over and over again

As to what we are doing diet-wise I personally shoot for a diet of meat/vegetable/fruit only along with intense varying "exercises"

Been lazy lately but plan on getting more strict again

Keep in mind that getting off the chair and outside to exercise or play is just as important as diet

First off welcome aboard Nikki glad to have you

I dont drink coffee or tea or even alchohol
when i have tried to drink tea and coffee it give's me really bad reflux for hrs after.

I enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning and a glass of wine at night but yeah, I get this same type of reflux stuff especially if I sing a lot that day (I'm in a band)

The key is to offset with enough fruits and vegetables

Here's a helpful table:

Hello there.
I discovered this forum from a link on Wikipedia.
I'm a Paleo (ish) eater, and try to exclude dairy, grains and legumes as much as possible from my diet.

I have a blog at the link below. Have a look and see if you think there is any good info there for you to read.

Welcome aboard Steve

Hope you can contribute and learn from the forum

Feel free to let others know about it

We're just starting out but I think it can be a great resource some day

Workout Journals / Longboarded tonight
« on: August 07, 2006, 07:22:56 PM »
Took my longboard out tonight for an hour or two ride

Lots of fun as always, with intense uphill pushes and relaxing downhill carving

Worked on a few simple tricks like the lookback and crossstepping

With the goal of making myself more productive at work and having a more relaxing evening I took Art Devany's lead and added coffee and wine to my diet

Only problem is that they cause stomach acid problems.  I am either not eating enough high-base foods to offset the acid or these drinks just aren't for me

Any experiences?

Great posts so far Chris

You should try sprinting instead of jogging.  I usually do a very intense 10-20 second sprint then walk for 30-60 seconds and repeat, all on a flat trail by my house.

Some other comments:

  • Wondering why you used the Smith machine for deadlifts.  I'm all about free weights to ensure stabilizer muscles get worked properly.  Just make sure you keep your back straight during deadlift and head up to prevent injury.
  • Can you explain all your abbreviated terms just so we're all clear?  Perhaps that is something we could standardize on and put into a FAQ for first time members of the forum to get familiar with.

Again, great posts so far and looking forward to reading future comments!
