Recipes and meal photos / Yummy and easy lunch recipes?
« on: January 18, 2014, 11:28:06 AM »
So one of the things ive been having trouble with is coming up with good lunch ideas. I pretty much eat the same foods in the AM and thats easy for me. And im having a blast making new dinners for myself every night. But I have such a hard time with lunch!
Now I work about 40-45 hours a week, and atleast 4 of the 6 days a week I work, im there during lunch. So I need some recipes that are easy to take to work and ones that can be easily reheated in a microwave (if theyre meant to be hot)

Would love some ideas!!!! I like almost any foods.
Thanks :)

Vitamins and Supplements / remedies for canker sores?
« on: January 16, 2014, 09:08:18 AM »
Ive suffered from canker sores for years...and once in awhile get really bad breakouts of them.  Theyre extremely painful! Does anyone have any remedies for it?
Ive tried moutwashes, salt rinses, and just about every numbing solution out there. The numbing stuff works but it doesnt last long and doesnt actually  solve the issue. The best thing ive tried have been these patches. Theyre basically a badaid that goes over it and adheres to youe skin and dissolves over a couple days so that it can heal. They work amazingly....but the thing is I get them a lot in the insides of my lips and its not rhe ideal place to put one of those becasue it is irritating.

Please any help would be great!

So now that things are starting to taste better to me...I thought Id try something I would never normally buy...and thats mushrooms.  I bought portabello mushroom tops and I was wondering if anyone knew how to prepare them or if there were good recipes?
I have no idea how to cook them or for how long and I want to make sure I do it right and not have a bad first experience with them!

I found some decent sounding orange chicken recipes. .and one for cauliflower "fried rice".

But I was wondering if anyone has tried a recipe like this and if you have a recipe to share? And your feedback on how it came out??

Diet and nutrition / How much should I be eating? and good workout foods?
« on: January 15, 2014, 02:09:57 PM »
Hello! So ive been doing the paleo diet for almost 2 weeks now and have lost about 9.8 lbs (already just about at my goal of losing 10lbs by my birthday, feb 21st!)

So I am trying to lose a little more weight...but I want to make sure im eating well and not starving myself.
Im a 22yr old female, 5'4", and im now at 146.2lbs. My goal is 135lbs.

Ive been eating a lot of chicken....and ive also made paleo stuffed peppers with lean ground beef.
Ive been loading up on the veggies though. I love them!

My usual breakfast is a 1 egg omelette..and lately ive been putting spinach inside...and a small amount of feta cheese on top (havent cut that out quite yet...thats the hardest for me!) But sometimes ill put in tomatoes and onions as well.
An example of a lunch I may make....today I had a small piece of leftover rib eye steak from my dinnner the night before...with a zucchini sliced with my julienne peeler, cooked with a little butter, lemon juice salt and pepper.
For dinner I usually make chicken...and load up on veggies (I love zucchini, and spaghetti squash a lot lately!!)

And ill have a snack between meals if I get hungry.  Usually a peice of fruit...or hummus and veggies. .or ive also drank peter rabbit organics purees. Theyre made for babies I think haha but its just pureed organic fruits and veggies and super yummy and a satisfying snack.

Now my question is, how much protein am I supposed to have every day while losing weight? What sort of things can I introduce to my diet to help?
And whenever I work out I dont seem to have an appetite after...im afraid I dont get enough calories on days I workout...so are there any good pre and post workout paleo snacks?

Im trying really hard to stick to this. Ive never felt better. I have SO much energy now its unbelievable.  And I no longer feel bloated and sick after eating a meal!
Its tough because I have a bf and parents who think im crazy for doing this (yet all three complain about their health constantly!)
But luckily my sister in laws youngee sister just started 2-3 days ago and she already feels great. So ive got her support.
Anyway ill stop blabbing...any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Introductions / 2 weeks in to the paleo diet! can use support!
« on: January 14, 2014, 08:34:46 PM »
Hi there! Ny name is Nicole and I live in FL. This is my first post on here...and im just under the 2 week mark on the paleo diet. I guess ive been eating more primal though because ill occasionally add a small amount of cheese to some dishes. Id like to cut it out completely but im slowly weening myself off of it.

The reason I decided to try this "diet" Was due to a couple things. First was that gained around 10 lbs between sept and december. I had never been out of my normal weight range since high school so it was really strangr for me. I felt lazy and sluggish and just overall crappy...and id cry everytime I tried something on that no longer fit. I was tired of feeling that way!

The other reason is that im an animal lover and have a few pets...all of which have as natural of a diet as I can provide them. And one day it just hit me....why do I do it for them...but have never done it for myself??? So thst was when I decided to just go for it :)

Im happy to announce ive lost 8.8lbs....and ive never felt better in my entire life! I have SO much more energy than ive ever had...and I dont feel like this is just a diet ill give up on in a couple weeks. My mood has drastically changed as well. I feel so HAPPY all the time. I just can't get over how much different I feel in just 2 weeks!

So happy to have found this forum.  I have many questions. ..so I hope you guys dont mind :)

Thanks!
Nicole
