For dinner I had some chicken breast, some fried yam, and a little cantaloupe.  No problems so far!  I am so excited.  Weird, but it's so nice to feel normal since it's been so long.  I guess my protocol is working.  ;D

Breakfast:

small cup coffee
bacon
sauteed broccoli
almond meal cookies (egg yolk, almond meal, oil, baking powder)
1/3 banana (I'm trying fruit again....was too sweet to eat more)  ;D

Lunch:
hamburger patty
carrot hashed and cooked in bacon grease
a few blackberries

I've been working on trying to reduce my gut bacteria and then repopulate with the good stuff.  I'm taking peppermint oil, grapefruit seed extract, and garlic as well as digestive enzymes with every meal.  Once a day I take bifidobacterium infantis 35624 (aka Align).  So far so good, as I don't feel any tummy rumbling. *crosses fingers*  I'll need to keep up the bacteria reducing stuff for at least 10 days.  Not a problem,a s burping peppermint is kind of nice. lol. The 90% meat diet from the last few days was causing a little constipation (no surprise there), so I added back in some veggies. Fruit is almost sickenly sweet today.  Maybe I'll try a little dark chocolate?  ;D

Can you imagine the blood sugar spike from that lunch? Yikes!

Yeah, I need to cook veggies too.  After I re-read my post, I think I made it sound like I was eating grains.  What I meant is I haven't had a problem staying away from grains.  :)

Yeah, it feels great to have lost so much weight.  As of this morning it's 37 pounds. I want to lose a little more, but I'd be happy to stay at this weight too.  :)

Lunch should be interesting. We're going to a BBQ at my dad's.  Fortunately they'll be plenty of meat. I just hope I don't get bothered about declining dessert or side dishes.

Eating has been pretty good.  I'm not entirely on plan, but I am avoiding fructose and fructans well. I'm having some issues with having a little sugar (in the form of pure glucose) since it settles my stomach so well.  Digestion was normal yesterday and today (so far...*crosses fingers*). I wonder if carrots were part of the problem?  Sticking with broccoli has seemed to help.  Fortunately I haven't had any issues with grains, and I've started a bit of a daily fast unintentionally.  It seems to be working for me to eat 3 small meals between around 7am and 2pm and then fasting until the next morning. I know most people fast in the morning, but I always wake up hungry...always have.

I hope to go another couple weeks without fruit and then do a trial.  I would like to experience normal digestion for at least a whole week before I give it a try though.  I've lost a couple pounds this week too.  Pretty cool.  I've exceeded my original goal from January, but I still have weight to lose (maybe 10 pounds??).  It's exciting though, as I've been fitting in sizes that I swear will not fit when I see them at stores.  I went to a rummage sale the other day and bought everything in size medium (there was a size 8 skirt and a size 6 dress), and it all fits! I would say I'm a size 8/10 for most things.  This is crazy to me, as I thought 12 was my perfect size (when I was a size 16/18).  ;D

You know, contraceptives are a choice...so let's not get on Marika about that.  Since I assume Marika is of childbearing age but has no children, the contraceptives may actually be a blessing.  The longer women suppress estrogen, the less chance of many of the female cancers (breast, ovary, etc).  This suppression is usually the result of multiple pregnancies and breastfeeding well into toddlerhood (at least in paleo times).  If she's not having lots of kids like her body expects, it can have negative effects.  Increasing her progesterone, albeit artificially, will decrease her chance of cancer.

Personally I hate hormonal contraceptives for myself.  I felt awful, gained weight, lost hair, etc.  I don't have heavy or painful periods, and now my DH has had a vasectomy.  ;D  I did have many years of suppressed estrogen though (2 failed pregnancies, as well as one successful one and 3 years of breastfeeding), so I feel I've done enough.  ;D

As for iron, I crave red meat like a madwomen in the week before my period...so I think I'm getting plenty.  :)

It's been a few days, but I've been mostly on plan. Digestive issues are not perfect, but I've had a lot of stress lately.

Breakfast:

bacon
fried shredded carrot with egg yolks (this is an experiment...it's mild but tasty)

No, I didn't have any problems except when I ate a lot of certain fruits (watermelon, apples, pears).  My DH and I both had some sort of bug or food poisoning about 2 months ago....then we had the same problems.  He instinctively cut out fruit for a week or two and can now handle it just fine (except grapes and watermelon).  I waited 6 weeks before I finally figured it out.  I feel like I might have done some damage, but don't really know how to fix it except avoid fructose and fructans.

I was on the diet for 4 months with zero problems when I started having issues.  I believe I had some form of food poisoning which triggered fructose malabsorption.  Right now I can't eat fruit...any fruit, without getting a gurgly, bloated belly. Certain vegetables are also limited (asparagus and onions especially).  It's been difficult, and things are still not entirely fixed.  It's certainly better, but I feel like this is temporary...I just have to stick it out.

I agree.  I borrowed The Paleo Diet from my library and read it.  I'm glad I didn't buy it because there wasn't a lot there I couldn't learn on the internet.  Plus, it was a little conflicting with what made sense to me about dietary fat.

yesterday
breakfast:bacon with carrot hash browns
snack: pepperoni
lunch: chicken breast and almond cookies (because I can't have honey or stevia, I used a little dextrose to sweeten these)
snack: leftover almond cookie, pepperoni
dinner: wasn't hungry, so I skipped it.

I know I didn't eat enough. I started my TOM last night, so I just didn't want anything.  I'll make up for it most likely.

My digestion was completely normal this morning for the first time in about 2 months.  ;D  I think I know now that this is the right diet.  I'm afraid of ketosis for some strange reason.  I have been slightly foggy, but overall not too bad.  I know I'm getting more than 20 carbs per day, but I doubt it's more than 50.  That's super low for me.

Dinner:
chicken breast, carrot hashbrowns, one piece pepperoni

I was a little short on calories today I'm sure.  I had a really busy day and just didn't have time to eat much. I'm a lot lower carb than usual too, but I'm sure I'll adapt.   :)

Now that sounds good!  I will give it a shot when I add fruits in.  It will be an excellent trial.  I just got a ceramic baking dish too...so I'll bake a chicken and make some berry sauce. Yum!

Today has gone well.  I paid for eating that fruit yesterday (tummy trouble), but other than that it's been a good feeling day.

Breakfast:
bacon and almond pancakes (almond meal, a little ground flax, duck egg yolk, olive oil)

snack:
applegate farms pepperoni

Lunch:
ground beef with sauteed carrots and broccoli
