Diet and nutrition / Re: Digestive problems-TMI warning

Same problems here.  I was fine for the first 4 months on the diet, and now digestive issues for the last month.  >:(  I can get the hemp seed butter through my coop, but it's $25/lb (that's wholesale, since I work there!).

Sadly I have resorted to eating off plan here and there...but I always feel so crappy I go back on paleo....but the problem comes right back.  I have some tahini...maybe I'll give it a shot.

Welcome!  As a former vegetarian, I can understand the difficulty in taking that step towards eating meat.  It's good to know that this diet works even without meat, as some days I don't feel like eating much...but I'm allergic to eggs, so my body craves meat more often than not.

Welcome! What a cool doctor you have.

That sounds fabulous!  I love really novel recipes like this.  I can't wait to make myself some vanilla almond pudding!  ;D

Yay! Quitting the night beer was tough for me too, but I feel so much better without it.   ;D

Congrats!  What a wonderful example of how wonderful this diet is!

I, too, get lots of compliments on my lifestyle I look, etc.  BUT, no one is willing to really make the change.  Weird.

Yeah, I've seen that.  My sister is diabetic (and morbidly obese) and chooses to follow that kind of diet.  She was in the hospital for a surgery, and she was telling me she had blueberry pancakes for breakfast....and then complaining that the docs couldn't get her blood glucose lowered and had to give her insulin (she controls it...sorta...with meds).  Insane!  ???

But hey, people just don't get it.  My dad's gf asked me the other day what I did for bread at meals.  I said I just don't eat it, and she looked at me like I was crazy.

Have you been eating a lot of salt? Caffeine?  Is it near you TOM?  those things can cause you to retain some water weight. Stick it out!  Weigh the same time every day you can be sure it's accurate.

I'd cut out the alcohol..completely..until you reach goal.  When I was about 2 months in, I had 2 gluten free beers, and they stalled my weight loss for 2 weeks.  I also like the suggestion of whole fruit...but try eating berries and other lower carb fruits.

I wonder if some dried fruit might help you out?  It's got more carbs per handful if that's what your body needs.

Welcome!  It's so nice to see the whole family going paleo.  2 months after I started my husband joined me. We've both lost quite a bit of weight and feel much better.  Our son is not paleo, but I do feed him higher protein/lower carb.

I don't wear much makeup or use lotion really, but I do wear sunscreen.  I have PMLE (polymorphous light eruption, a form of sun allergy), so unless I want an ugly rash, I wear a little sunscreen on my face.  I usually let me arms rash because I need vitamin D badly (I am deficient from the PMLE).  I use Aubrey Organics unscented SPF 20.  It works well and doesn't stink too badly.  :)

I get compliments on my skin a lot now! Other than clearing up terrible eczema, the diet has made my face kinda skin is just plain softer too.  My massage therapist says I am less tense now as well.  ;D
