Desperately NEED SOME help

I have known about this lifestyle for FAR too long, i need some moral support. My family and friends (all of them) eat unhealthy CRAP. I am unable to sustain the diet, i am constantly and consistently bombarded by unhealthy requests. I would love for some advice on how to combat this...

Today marks the Beginning of my new 30 DAY CHALLENGE...THE CAVEMAN DIET FOR 30 DAYS challenge, i would love ANY advice or support, I am a young "newbie" at 19 years old, i would like to start the rest of my healthy days off right.

Hi there - Start a food journal in the journal section and we can see what you are doing.

Maybe post about specific problems in the diet and nutrition section - you'll find people happy to help you out.

If you live at home and someone cooks for you, I can see that it would be more difficult. You may have to get your own supplies. Would you be allowed to cook for yourself?

It's definitely a lot harder when you're living with people who eat differently!  I'm the only one in my house eating paleo (so far--fingers crossed), and there's still food around that I don't eat now but still tempt me.  Muffins, sodas, breakfast cereal, cookies...

It might be easier for me since I'm the one who mostly cooks.  I cook paleo food that I can eat, and if the other people in the house don't like what I make they can fix their own food.  (They've been doing that a lot since I started paleo.)  The first few weeks were the hardest, because I was kicking the sugar addiction and jonesing for soda like you wouldn't believe.  I mainly held on because I was trying paleo for health reasons, and if I "cheated" and paleo didn't solve my health issues I wouldn't know if it was because paleo didn't work or because I cheated.  So I was able to maintain a fairly strict 30 days.  For science!

Now it's a little easier to resist temptation because I'm no longer craving the sugar high.  The muffins on the counter do look tasty, but it's not a physical thing any more.  If I ever catch myself thinking "I can't eat that," I correct myself:  I CAN eat that.  I CHOOSE not to, because I'm so much healthier when I don't eat that.  This way it's not forbidden fruit so it's not as tempting, and also I get to feel virtuous for resisting.

Anyway, on a more practical note--would it be possible for you to pre-make meals and snacks to keep in the refrigerator?  Like a big tupperware full of cooked burgers or pre-mixed salads, that you could just grab when you feel the urge to chow down on some pasta?

Yes, i am allowed to cook but i can only use the microwave and the stove-top, no oven, oh and the GRILL :)

This is exactly what i needed to hear...GOLDEN WISDOM

I have various frozen fruits and vegtables that i can now cook at any time, along with some coconut, LOTS of almonds, and i have access to a 24/7 walmart within walking distance of me...for all my meat needs...i've been taking a little intermission from meat. i was eating WAY too much recently, that was my diet, meat meat meat and ice cream, and candy... i'm getting back into fruits and veggies. fruit will be my go to "cheat food".

Thank you all for your advice and interest in my goal to be a hunter/gatherer.

I'll start a food journal called "Newbie 30 day paleo challenge" if i can figure out how to put pictures on there i will do that also :D

Fruit and veggies are good, but use it to replace the ice cream and candy, not to replace the meat!

Also, make sure you get meat with plenty of fat.  That could help lessen the temptation from ice cream.
