Early, encouraging progress
« on: April 01, 2011, 10:42:05 PM »
Hi folks.
My family and I have been eating Paleo for about a month now and I just got a boost of encouragement, besides feeling great.

I went to the doctor for a check up/blood work and got the results today.
My total cholesterol went from 245 a year ago, to 219 now.
HDL went from 54 to 47.
LDL was 168, now 156.
Triglycerides were 114, now 79.
Also, a lingering problem with anemia, that I've had for 2 1/2 years, is completely gone.
I still have a ways to go but this is not bad for 3 1/2 weeks.

This is particularly encouraging for my husband and 13 year old daughter, who have Familial Hypercholesterolemia. Our hope is to get the whole family healthy and my husband and daughter off all of their medications.

You'll get there too. Might be a good idea to start a food journal if you have time, as then we can all help you get your food right.
The answer to your question is 'eat more fat'.

Stop counting calories. If you are eating Paleo, there is usually no need.

If you are having weight loss issues, it'd be a good idea to start posting a detailed food journal, then everyone can help.

'Anecdotal Evidence' is an oxymoron.

Thank you, Avelin.

Samjohn, thanks for the encouragement. A food journal is a good idea. I've sort of been keeping a journal since we started eating Paleo but it's on paper, not on the computer.

Oh, I forgot to add before, I've lost 10 pounds so far and 3 inches off my waist, judging by my belt. My daughter has lost 9 pounds.
