I guess it's time for some progress pics...
« on: October 11, 2010, 07:49:20 PM »
3 days before starting paleo "again" - this was in March of this year... with my son and me sporting the bucket caps and shades:

(for reference, this was taken when I was in the 380lbs bodyweight range)

Last Saturday doing cleans at the gym...

(Sunday morning I weighed in at 320.5lbs)

And tonight, very tired but catching up on some work... and wasting that catchup time posting here...

(This morning I was still 320.5lbs, at the time of this picture, full of water and oxtails at a whopping 324 dressed)

Diets fail because society as a whole believes body image is more important than health. The problem is that obesity is simply one of many symptoms of an illness, not the illness itself.

And I'm being cured.

Lookin' good Josh! I can definitely see the difference in your face and torso. Of course, since you're also doing workouts you're putting on muscle mass...so don't rely too heavily on that scale to measure your progress :)

How tall are you?
The answer to your question is 'eat more fat'.

Stop counting calories. If you are eating Paleo, there is usually no need.

If you are having weight loss issues, it'd be a good idea to start posting a detailed food journal, then everyone can help.

'Anecdotal Evidence' is an oxymoron.

LOL!  ::)  Talk about not paying attention!  LOL!  I saw the Z on the shirt and didn't really read any further because I had decided it was for a pizza place in NYC!  I guess zombies probably don't do pizza!  LOL!

Bee, who needs to finish the first cup a before reading the T-shirts!

6 feet / 1.8 meters or thereabouts.

big drop!  well done!
Sugar addiction kills more people than all other kinds of drugs combined

If your food needs a prefix, it's not paleo!

Here is the shot from my ticker... shows a pretty dramatic decrease once I switched over to eating 2-3lbs of meat a day with "adequate" (low) vegetables... (and a big fruit carbup on friday evenings/saturday mornings).

Sadly though, I may have to "cheat" a little on my progress in the future. By cheat, I mean I'm probably going to need surgery to remove the excess skin that comes with being over 400lbs at one time, and at the least 380lbs+ over the course of the last few years. It (excess skin) is now causing physical problems that could become serious if ignored. I am going to guess I have approximately 30-50lbs of excess skin that is not going to "bounce back" - and that will basically change this chart altogether.

That's not cheating, it's showing your weight loss more honestly. :)

I am, pretty much a jack of all trades. I am the "Anything but Windows" specialist at my employer, so if a client is running mac, linux, unix... I'm the guy that goes out to fix the problem. I also have Microsoft credentials... but as you can tell by my name, I've been a Linux user for 10+ years... at least until I got my mac (I still use linux for menial tasks at home with a server-type box, just prefer not having to deal with deps and such with linux desktops).
