Yeah, I always thought it was a bit lame that there were no photos...

So I decided to accept the challenge.  I pulled out the camera and took a quick shot:

...now don't pick on me!  At least I had the guts to go first  ;)

(I had a look for an old snap, but don't have any digital.  I'll have to scan one ... one day)

Ok, so I took some "before" photos today at my weight of 165 lbs, but I'm not showing them until I get to my goal weight. Haha! I've already lost 2 lbs overnight. How come no one else is posting pics on here?  ???

Well I don't really have any before pics.  I eat this way for health and not weight loss so I don't look all that much different.  I did weigh 15-20 lbs more at one point, but it wasn't for very long and I don't think any pictures were taken of me!  Here is me from last weekend.  I'm on the right in the black and white and my sister is on the left.  She does paleo/primal too when she's not caught in the middle of finals (she just graduated college, that's why we are all dressed up in the pic :)).

Me, before.  I had already lost a couple of dress sizes in this photo and thought I was looking great (I had lost it from hard work at the gym and low fat diets.... very difficult and hard to stick to, so was proud of myself)...

This is my now (as in last week).  I took it as a before photo as I am now doing some training to build muscle tone up.  This body is after starting Paleo 3 years ago, with no exercise (apart from incidental) and 2 children (one born 10 weeks before the photo)...

Looking awlful lean there Tarlach :)

It's pretty funny.  I do the exact opposite of conventional thinking for weight loss and then lose all my bodyfat  :D  I'm also finding it much easier to get stronger  ;D

I do no cardio, quite a small amount of exercise and I eat all the fat I can handle (having one meal a day).  It's much easier than 6 tiny meals a day of zero fat and then cardio till you pass out (so you don't have to think of the food you can't have!).

Sitting around and eating steak sounds like heaven to me.  It's rather strange that fat relatives have no interest in trying it.  Somehow the desire to eat biscuits and cake is much more important to them  ???

I think it's the physical addiction - biscuits and cake act like freakin heroin on your cell receptors!  What a nasty vicious cycle!  It takes a lot of education and commitment to switch your entire diet regimen. Everyone here should be proud of themselves for making the switch!

I am so happy to be free of that insanely addictive physical craving cycle that sugar and bad carbs cause.  I'm even more thrilled that my hubby is taking interest and starting to follow along!

I am trying to educate my mom and sister but the Paleo WOE seems almost counterintuitive unless you go and do your homework yourself....so it's really difficult to sway others.  Maybe when I"m 50 lbs lighter and super energetic they may inquire...maybe not....addiction is a powerful thing!

It's hard to cram weeks of research, logically, into a quick chat with someone.  I tell my parents about some of my findings, but will never get them to be full paleo (they think they are too old to bother anyway).  I did manage to get them to go sort of gluten free and reduce dairy.

The other day my dad said something like "I have a feeling you are right about all this".  It only took me 3+ years to convince him!

Get a hold of the doco called "King Corn" and/or "Fat Head".  They are both quite easy for the average Joe to watch (a little long though) and have a lot of good info in them.

Especially women, I am trying to convince the girlfriend to shift to paleo.

Paleorainy's amazing photos have sown a seed, and because of that there is a chance she'll convert if she has a little more evidence.

I'll tell you the sticking point, and I am going to simplify for brevities sake.

I say the body sees the level of incoming fat as the measure by which it stores energy. So if there is alot of incoming fat then it stores nothing.

What she is afraid of is that as her body is used to no fat etc, when the fat intake increases her body will also increase until it gets used to the level. Simply put, she is afraid of some kind of fat rebound before the paleo skinny kicks in.

I don't want to post photos on the internet, but I can tell you that in the four months since I started Paleo, I've had to get a ring guard for my wedding ring because it kept slipping off, and my skirts and jeans are all too big now! I was slim to begin with, but now I'm very slim and lean and I love it!!

FYI, I've been averaging around 25:25:50 carbs/protein/fats, I am 120 lbs, 5' 2", 37  yrs old, moderately active. I am eating more fats now, but it's good fat (pure pastured pork lard).

Don't miss the photos in the before-and-after photos thread:

The pics of Kallyn and Paleomum might help.
