I understand the need to clarify.  But I have to say, there is a huge difference between posting a recipe for chocolate cake and the recipe here.  We all know that some people eat butter on Paleo.  And, if you actually read the recipe, it wasn't even made with potatoes.  It was made with cauliflower.  Also, people that follow Paleo 4.0 eat potatoes and night shades.
I often don't post because I feel that there are those that are just waiting to spring on me when I do.  It is unfriendly and unsupportive.  Food is like a religion.  You have your way, and I have my way.  If you ask me, I will educate you about my way, but I'm not going to go around dissing what you do/like and trying to convert you so that you are just like me.  I've seen it said a million times on this forum that being Paleo isn't the same for everyone.  Some of us accept that we don't all work Paleo the same way.  Some people are 80/20, some people are 99%.  That's what's so great about Paleo.  You have the freedom to choose how you want to do it.
I understand that people ask for help, and I am all for giving your advice at this point.  However, freaking out at someone because they chose to use butter, which under some paleo umbrellas is fine, is extremely unfriendly. I think what most of us are here for is support.  I don't have support at home.  So I was hoping that this forum could become that support system for me, but it's turning out that that isn't going to be the case.

That's why I don't spend much time on here anymore. Too many Debbie Downers.

I doubt it's a matter of pride, more of clarity. A lot of newbies step here and wonder if potatoes are paleo, since a recipe with mashed potatoes is posted on a paleo forum I personally am taken to believe they must be paleo! But they are not.

Tubers are Paleo. Potatoes are Primal.

Because some people take pride in being hardcore about it.

So it's a great recipe, well, it's surely tasty, but I would not post it here, for the sake of clarity, not of being hardcore about it.
I do have a great recipe for a chocolate cake, full of sugar and flour. It's great, really, absolutely delicious. But I wouldn't post it here just because it's delicious, things have their place to fit in.
But there's no potatoes in it, it's made with cauliflower.

Exactly.  Most of the users of this forum are guests who browse to find out about paleo without ever posting, not long term members who post.  Many guests may not read past the title of a thread.  To avoid confusing them, I think it's best to be clear regarding paleo - and indeed, I think the fact that many people here are quite clear is probably why the guests find the site useful.

Regarding tubers, most tubers are agricultural crops harvested annually and no more paleo than grains.  That includes sweet potatoes and yams, not just white potatoes.  Primal, maybe.

To be honest, I don't have a problem with the recipe, I just thought the title could be clearer.  Then again, I wouldn't have a problem with a recipe for, say, almond flour dairy free chocolate cake made with honey, either, if someone managed to figure one out, though I wouldn't include it in my own diet.

Man, I step away for a little while and the forum blows up about my recipe?  I apologize for not putting potatoes in quotation marks in the title.  Or adding the word substitute.  I do notice quite a few people flew off the handle about my recipe and yet clearly didn't read the recipe itself to notice there were no potatoes harmed while filming the recipe.

Don't apologize.  The recipe is great.  The whole freak about the potatoes was ridiculous...
