New Paleo Cookbook: Reviewers Wanted
« on: November 29, 2011, 06:20:45 PM »
Hi folks,

I recently published a new cookbook on the paleo diet, and it has just recently gone up on Amazon.com (huzzah!).  So in order to get the ball rolling on reviews, I thought I would offer a few free review copies to anyone who is interested.

For now I'll refrain from posting links or even mentioning the book's title, but if a moderator would like to chime in here and give me permission, I'd be happy to post a link to the book's Amazon page for anyone who is curious.

In the meantime, if you'd like a free copy of the new book...
- Send an email to lazypaleo@gmail.com (the email address I've set up for the book).
- I'll reply and send you a pdf of the book.
- You agree (on the honor system) that after you've had a chance to go through a bit of the book, you'll post a short, honest review on the book's page on Amazon.com.

A few limitations:
- I'm only offering free copies to the first 5 people.
- I'm offering ebook (pdf) format only, since having my fulfillment company ship out physical copies costs money.
- You have to have an account on Amazon.com (that you have actually used to purchased something in the past), otherwise Amazon won't let you post a review.

The book is designed around simple, time-efficient recipes, as well as tips and ideas for reducing cooking time and food prep time .  So if you're really into gourmet food, or if you want 1,000 recipes with a bunch of HD photos of food porn, this book may not be a good fit for you (i.e. please don't ask me for a review copy if you think you're going to hate the book :).  However, if you like making quick, easy, super-tasty paleo food, this book might be right up your alley.

The book retails for $15, so I think this is a pretty nice little deal for anyone who's looking for some new ideas on paleo cooking/recipes.  If you don't like the book for some reason, you're obviously welcome to say so in your review, but I've worked very hard on making this book as good as I possibly can, so I hope that you love it to pieces and take it to bed with you every night to snuggle with while you drift off to sleep.

So ... if you're interested in a free copy, drop me an email, and if you're one of the first 5 people I'll get you a copy ASAP.

Thanks guys!

Sean

Hey goodsamaritan,

Normally I'd be happy to send you a review copy, but after taking a quick look at your blog, it looks like you're primary interest is in a raw paleo diet.  Since the book is pretty much all about cooked paleo food, it seems like it wouldn't be a very good fit for you.

I've heard a lot of great things about people curing themselves of health problems with raw paleo (I'd like to try the raw meat thing at some point as an experiment, and I'm actually a former raw food vegan).  I just think you probably won't like the book since it's not about raw paleo, and I'd prefer to reserve the review copies for people who are in the book's "target demographic".

Thanks a lot for your interest in my book though, I really appreciate it.

Quick update:

Happy to say that I've already given away 4 of the 5 review copies, so if you have any interest in this offer, there's only one spot left.

Yeah send one my way, no problems with you posting a link as long as it is actually Paleo.

Pseudo Paleo with various kinds of cakes, cupcakes and pancakes made from almond or coconut flour probably won't go down too well with this crowd.
The answer to your question is 'eat more fat'.

Stop counting calories. If you are eating Paleo, there is usually no need.

If you are having weight loss issues, it'd be a good idea to start posting a detailed food journal, then everyone can help.

'Anecdotal Evidence' is an oxymoron.

Thanks everyone for your interest in my book, I'm super flattered.

As of now, the free book giveaway is officially closed.  I technically got more than 5 people requesting a review copy, but I'm going to give away a few extra copies for the last few people who emailed me, just as a way of saying thanks for taking interest in my work.  I'll be sending out the remaining review copies right after I'm done posting here.

Samjohn, thanks for giving me the go-ahead to post a link.  I'd be happy to give you a review copy, you'll just have to send me an email at lazypaleo@gmail.com so that I know where to send it.

Funny you mentioned the coconut/almond flour issue, actually: I'm pretty unimpressed with it myself, since it hasn't made me feel great whenever I've experimented with it in the past.  There's actually a particular recipe in the book for paleo pancakes that I love because it somehow manages to produce a really tasty cinnamon-almond flavored pancake without the use of any of these crappy pseudo-flours.  I'm pretty sure it's sorcery.

Now that I've been given permission to post a link: the book is called "The Lazy Paleo Enthusiast's Cookbook", and you can find both print and Kindle editions on Amazon at this link: http://www.amazon.com/Lazy-Paleo-Enthusiasts-Cookbook-Collection/dp/1467941166/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1321912294&sr=8-1

Hope you guys like the book, and for anyone who is considering picking up a copy, feel free to post here if you have any questions about the content before you buy.  I'd hate for someone to spend their hard-earned money on the book if it isn't a good fit for them, so I'll try and check back on this thread semi-regularly over the next few weeks if anyone has any questions.
