Autism starts before birth?

Hi all, I just saw this news item:  http://www.abc.net.au/news/2011-11-09/study-finds-autistic-brains-are-heavier/3653764  I understand there are probably several different types of autism with different causes, but it occurs to me that if this type starts before birth, the most likely environmental contributing factor is something to do with maternal nutrition. Maybe paleo diet during pregnancy would help prevent this?

Maybe.  Or maybe autism is a perfectly natural condition.  I enjoy the company of aspies and auties more than that of neurotypicals.

That said, I kind of doubt that a sample size of half a dozen is really statistically significant.
