Why are they discussing native American diet and palaeolithic diets as if they were the same thing?

They're discussing the Plains tribes. They didn't lose the hunter-gatherer ways until forced into reservations.

I think I read somewhere that before humans arrived there were a lot of horses but we ate them all - then they were reintroduced by the Spanish.
