Potassium
« on: June 01, 2012, 03:41:21 AM »
I've read the usual "paleolithic men ate about 10.000mg of potassium and 700sodium per day". I'm in strict paleo and i can't even reach the recommended 4700mg of potassium while at the same time always exceeding the reccomented 1500mg of sodium.

Here's a typical day of mine:
Lunch: 2 eggs scrambbled with 200gr of sautted green vegetables and 4tbsp olive oil
Dinner:250gr sardines roasted with 200gr steamed green vegetables, lemon juice and 4 tbsp olive oil
All with plenty of spices and himalyan salt(which actually contains potassium ten times more then sodium)

I was feeling reaaly sick until i started supplementing potassium but i take a lot like 10x99mg a day to feel better.
Apart from watching out the ratio between potassium and sodium, any amount of potassium below 4700mg even if it's in balance with sodium is considered deficiency and i should supplement? Also I can't keep finishing a vitamin bottle every ten days. Any suggestions how i can take my potassium from diet? I wanna be in ketosis to loose weight and i'm under treatment for my bowel so fruits, nuts are not allowed.
