While I don't actually take it I've done some reading on it.
Spirulina is apparently in the high 90% mark for protein, it has one of the highest protein counts found in nature.
In "12 Steps to Colonising the Galaxy" Marshall Savage, proposed cultivating spirulina on a global scale to feed the worlds population.
I believe it could be used in much the same way that the use of Soy-Pro is depicted in Sci-Fi stories, i.e. with a bit of flavouring and some added colour, it could be made to almost, but not quite,

resemble any other food, like the Corn Bread in the movie Aliens, or as a meat substitute, tasty beverage, etc.
Anyone for speef steak? or a spam sandwich?
