That was pre-safety equipment.


Even though I only do semi-contact sparring gloves, foot guards and  a groin guard have to be worn - shin guards are optional but I choose to wear them as my shins seem to get screwed up quite easily and I'd never be able to train 5 or 6 times a week if I didn't!

I'm never quite sure if the gear is to protect me, or to protect others from me  ;D........

That said I really wouldn't want to do full contact stuff now - at 41 I just don't want to risk the injuries!

I'm 43, after over 32yrs. of training and competing I no longer train martial arts on a regular basis. I certainly wouldn't want to be walking around with broken bones in my feet all the time anymore.
