This is one of things in CF that stinks heavily of ignorance! WTF? 75 reps of a power movement in 6min. Speed and form are sure to breakdown sooner than later which means that the majority of reps are shit!
I could see 6, 9  or even 12 reps, in 6min.

If you are a super, anything over 80% will be 6min = 1 rep. :-)

I prefer a little bit more intesification than that.  ;)

Well, this was the METCON if that makes any difference.  Gals used #45 (of lighter bar if needed) and guys used #95.  I think they were trying to get us to use lighter weight and work on explosiveness.... :-\
All I know is that my heart was pounding out of my chest...

Anyway, here's today:
Press heavy set of 5....#70.  Did #75 for 4 tho!

Metcon:
Helen
3 rounds
400m run
21 kb swings
12 pull ups

I scaled to:
2 rounds
400m run
12 kb swings with #44
6 pull ups NO BAND!!!!!!

I can understand doing the high rep/timed stuff with a kettlebell swing. Not with a highly technical movement like a snatch. That's ignorant.

I do agree with you on that.  I'm more interested in learning the correct technique than doing it in a metcon...but...

8/11/10

Back squat
Heavy set of 5....#160!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
I don't want to toot my own horn but TOOOOOOOT TOOOOOT!  My 1RM on back squat to date is 173 so I have a good feeling that that has gone up  :) and I wonder why I'm filling out my jeans... ::)
then 3x10 at 50% for assistance work---explosiveness is the name of the game.

then it was gymnastics work...still working on muscle up progression so today I did 5x5 pull ups NO BAND!

I was very pleased with how today went ;D

No crossfit today.  Went to the gym instead and worked on my pistol progression.  Pretty much focused today on hammie/glutes.

Walked the pups and did a few sprints.

Off to another Olympic lifting seminar ;D

The first 2 hours are for the beginners (like myself) and the next 2 are for the more advanced (ones who actually have a pretty good technique).
I have bruises on my thighs from cleans....I hope that means that I'm doing something right ::)

Well, yes... and no.

Bruises on your thighs does mean that you are getting full hip extension.

However, if the bar is "bouncing" off your thighs two things may be occurring...
1. the bar is too far away from your body (it should slide "up" the thighs, not make impact with them)
2. the bar is swinging away from your body during your second pull.

Both of these things will cause you to land the clean "forward", which will set you up to lose the weight in front of you or damage your wrist from hyperextending it.
Diets fail because society as a whole believes body image is more important than health. The problem is that obesity is simply one of many symptoms of an illness, not the illness itself.

And I'm being cured.
