Hoss Training
« on: December 06, 2013, 04:50:45 PM »
Hello all, just sharing some of my home training workouts and what I do.  Thanks for stopping by.

I am currently using the "Simple and Sinister" training approach from Pavel Tsatouline's new book.  It's essentially a few warm-up exercises followed by kettlebell swings and Turkish get-ups, then two cool-down stretches.  I also add in at the end 3 sets of pull-ups (stopping a rep or two short of failure) alternating with hanging leg raises (match the reps of the pull-ups).  I basically do this workout every other day, then on the other day I shoot my bow.

This morning I got up at 4am and got my workout in.  3x5 of the warm-up exercises, then grabbed my 16kg/35.2lb kettlebell and did 100 swings with it in approximately 6:21.  I then did 5 Turkish get-ups each side in just under 8 minutes.  I finished with my pull-ups and hanging leg raises (4 of each, nothing great) and then did the stretches.

On the 7th, I shot about 30 arrows doing some paper cup training on my target.  That night, I took the wife out to her work's Christmas party and we stayed out late so I missed my workout on the 8th.  Fitting in today's kettlebell workout tonight after the kids are in bed.

Just to catch up, today's workout.  Same as before essentially.  Did the swings in 5:26 and the get-ups in 6:30.  Did hanging windshield wipers instead of leg raises (left and right is one rep).
