Holy Smokes!  I haven't posted since March????  No wonder I've gone to pot...

I think I stopped working out regularly about that time.  Then in the Fall, I really let my eating slip (eg chocolate, pizza, donuts, Mexican food galore).  So, as a result I gained weight again - big time.  Some guys on my softball team thought it would be a good idea to do a "Biggest Loser" contest and we had a weigh-in following our last game in late November.  I weighed 250 -  AAUUGGHH!!!

Didn't do jack squat through the holidays, but I finally worked out on Friday with the weights in my garage.  I just did 30 minutes on my elliptical trainer and I plan to get up at 6:00 tomorrow and lift again.  It feels really good right now.  I also have had only a nice mediterranean-style salad to eat today.  I think I'll skip dinner.

One other thing I had been doing too much of was drinking.  Not like an alcoholic or anything, but two or three drinks and I start eating like crazy.  That will also have to stop.  I need to get back to enjoying the endorphin buzz from working out.

Two years ago, I first encountered Art Devany and the concept of Evolutionary Fitness.  I went from 265 to 220 in six months.  Time to do it again and make it last!

Well, of course I didn't do any early morning workouts last week.  I also didn't eat too well, but at least now the holidays are past and there won't be so many tempting situations to overindulge.

I did go on one nice two-hour hike at the lake on New Years eve.  Last night I lifted again.  I was sore for four days after that last session.  I'll either hike again today or if I can find the time, get out and run some sprints at the school track.

We tried out our new stovetop smoker last night and smoked some salmon, which turned out really good.

Have still been eating poorly and not exercising as much as I should.  I worked out with weights yesterday:  squats, bench press, crunchs, curls and rows.  Last weekend I spent 30 minutes alternating between jumping rope and punching the heavy bag.  Still need to get my butt out of bed in the morning and get the workout out of the way.

May Freakin' Eleventh!  Today, I try again to get back on the ball.

I ate fairly well today, salad for lunch and hamburger patty for dinner, along with a snack of cauliflower.  I also prepared tomorrows meal, which is a saute of bell pepper, onions, spinach and sausage slices (I know, not the best possible, but it was all we had).

I went for a nice hike at the lake trail today for a little over an hour.

Tomorrow, we have a softball game, but I want to get up early and lift for about 30 minutes.  I need to get in the habit of getting up at six every morning, whether I plan to work out or not.

Other plans are to randomly fast one day per week (noon to noon) and get in five workouts per week

One sprint session
One hike of 5-10 miles (Sat mornings are now open since kids soccer is almost over!)
Three weights/circuit training.

I had built up a nice little gym in my garage with weights, heavy bag, jump rope, swiss ball etc.  Now it's time to use again.

Now for the hard part - weigh in a couple of days ago was 259.  Will note progress every Saturday.

Softball last night.  In order to make the most of it, I sprint to and from dugout/left field, which actually provides decent exercise when combined with sprinting between bases and after balls in the outfield.

No early morning rise to lift though.  I'll try to do some lifting after work when I get home tonight.

Apple for breakfast and spaghetti sauce/meat/veggies (no pasta) for lunch today.  I brought celery and guacamole for an afternoon snack.

Yesterday I finally hit the weights again.  Not too much though because it had been a while and didn't have a lot of time.  Did three sets each with increasing weight and decreased reps of squats, bench press and curls.

Had eggs and sausage for breakfast for breakfast and a salad for lunch.  I'm going to try fasting between about 3:00 this afternoon and lunch tomorrow.

I sneaked a peek at the scale this morning and saw that I have lost three pounds sinc my weigh-in last week.  I definitely feel better already and haven't had the evening food cravings since I cut out the sugar and starches.

30 minutes on elliptical trainer Friday
Not much Sat. as I was at a soccer tournament for one son all day.  I actually got a decent workout for 15 minutes by shagging balls for the team as they took shooting drills before one game.  Sprinting back and forth
Today I took a 90 minute walk at the park.

Not so good this week for exercise and eating this weekend hasn't been too good either.  However, today is a new day and I had a good workout this morning.  Six sets of "clean and press".    I just had a nice salad with romaine lettuce, marinated artichokes, calamata olives, sun dried tomatoes and greek dressing for lunch.

I know what you're going through. I was doing so well with working out and eating properly. Then I somehow fell off the wagon... far. I was in a constant state of losing a pound or 2 a week... I plateaued and got a little discouraged I guess. I think I needed to push myself even harder instead of pulling back!

Good luck waking up to work out! That's the best time to do it... and it's such a great feeling to have already worked out by the time you go to work or start your day. I am trying to wake up at 5am again to run, do strength, or strength conditioning. We can do it!!  :P

I am going indoor rock climbing today... hopefully...

Something clicked in me this weekend and I decided once again to try to get back on track.  The bad news is that I weighed 257

The good news is that I've eaten well since Sunday (salad, shrimp sautee w/celery, carrots, bell pepper, 2 apple for breakfast) and I actually got up this morning at 5:30am and went for a 1 hour walk.

I want to walk twice/week and lift 3 times, but that may switch back depending on how sore I am.

Big talker I know..., but I think it's going to happen this time.  I started up the weight tracking spreadsheet and returned to my favorite web forum (this one!).

No booze until I lose 20 lbs

After work yesterday I did six sets of deadlifts.  This morning, I got up again at 5:30 and went for a 1 hour walk.  Early morning rising twice in one week - that's a record!

Continue to eat per plan.  Yesterday I had an apple for breakfast, a salad for lunch and wasn't that hungry at dinner so I had one slice of roast beef and an avocado.

Worked out at 6:00 this morning for 30 minutes, stretching and several sets each of bench presses and curls.  My legs are sore as heck right now from the deadlifts. I'll walk again tomorrow morning and then take the weekend off!

Still doing well on eating.  I had an omelette for breakfast yesterday, salad for lunch, some nuts as a snack and a spicy chicken soup for dinner.  Breafast this morning was leftover chili and I brought another salad for lunch (lettuce, celery, carrots, olives, little tomatoes)

Did 30 minutes on the elliptical this morning starting at 6:00.  That's four early morning workouts for me this week, which is almost as many as I had done previously in my whole life!

I hope to get a 1-hour walk in this evening when I drop my son off for soccer practice.

Had a bit of chicken tortilla soup (w/o the tortilla) last night, an apple for breakfast and chili with celery and avocado for lunch.

From the sounds of it, we're grilling steaks for dinner tonight.

So far, I've lost 4 pounds this weekend and could potentially be down 5 by my "official" Saturday weigh-in tomorrow morning.

Amazing what a little healthy eating and exercise can do...

I got in the 1 hour walk last night at my son's soccer practice and had a nice dinner of steak, asparagus and mushrooms.  Breakfast this morning of an apple and lunch of chili with diced celery, onions and bell pepper.

I didn't lose 5 pounds at the official Saturday weigh-in like I expected.  I lost 6!

Hard to believe that's all fat loss, but the funny thing is, I've probably been drinking more water this week than I have in months.  I guess the exercise probably has sweated out some water weight though.

So one week back on track and good results.   My arms are sore as heck from the lifting I did the other day though.  Definitely need to take a couple days off to recover.
