PT Log
« on: January 29, 2011, 06:55:38 PM »
I figured if I at least put my PT workouts down everyday, it might inspire me to do more cos I sure as hell didn't do enough when I was on holiday.

Friday 28.1.11

Cardio, Upper body and Abs.

40 min Boxing session - with intervals of running around the oval, sit ups, planks and heel taps, warm up and cool down stretches.

Passed the test - did the 2.4 in 13 mins - hey I'm an old chick not Roger Bannister   :D

For my age and gender, I get a total run time of 16.30 mins - as long as I run under that, I pass. 3 1/2 mins under is good enough.

Possible lunch time circuits as well if I have the time. Yup managed those as well - Tabata today which was hard because it was so hot in the gym - 40 degrees C outside and the aircon was straining to keep up - I think I lost nearly 2 kgs just in sweat today.

I ate one banana before the BFA at 8.00 a.m. and in between that and the circuits at midday, I ate a handful of macadamia nuts and 2 boiled eggs - that's it. For lunch at about 1.30 p.m., I had a chicken salad - not hungry even now at 5.30 p.m., just thirsty. I think I'll have eggs for dinner, probably a veggie omelette.

Yep it sure was a hot one today, well done on the run.

Thanks Rollin - my PB for that run when I first joined the Army 4 years ago was 11.42 - hmmm, wonder if I'll ever get back to that? That's 78 seconds faster - doesn't sound much when you say it like that.

Gonna be another hot one today. No PT today, got DOMS in my glutes and shoulders from the tabata and calves from the running because I wore my Vibrams and my calves are still adjusting - so resting today.

Wednesday 02.02.11

If I decide the night before what I'm gonna do the next day and write it here - I'm commited. It'll be good for me.

Running to work - 4 kms. Done

Circuits at lunchtime.  Done - pushups, squats, sit ups, cycling

"Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve. It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle--when the sun comes up, you'd better be running." It would appear that there will be two lots of circuits today - being in the army I don't often have a choice over what exercise I am obliged to attend - oh well.

Circuit one - the usual stuff heaves, push ups, sit ups etc.

Circuit two - turned into a spin class so that was better than doing two lots of circuits.

Saturday and Sunday will be rest days.

Monday 07.02.11

There was another BFA today for those who didn't do it last week so joined in for the sheer hell of it and knocked 25 seconds off my time from last week - love those Vibrams - calves not hurting anymore - flew around the course! The army guys rip the piss out of me for wearing them, but none of them knocked 25 seconds off their times!!

Circuits at lunchtime -  gonna add some heavier weights in when I get a bit stronger and more agile i.e. back to my normal futness level.

PT was circuits on the rugby oval outside in the sunshine, but I pulled a hip flexor doing lunges and now it hurts even when I walk so I didn't do anything at lunchtime - bits of me keep falling off or breaking - bloody hell, who'd be old?? I hope it's better soon.

4 km walk - haven't done much this week due to hip flexor so been taking it easy.

Tomorrow, compulsory PT is interval training, so I'll see how I go.

Interval training .... man oh man, if you give it everything you've got, it hurts.  :o

On the plus side, my hip flexor seems ok now, but sprinting in my Vibrams caused some more calf muscle soreness, but that's just good old DOMS.
