Been doing military presses, deadlifts, chinups, clean and presses (which I think is just deadlift and military press combined) and I feel really strong doing it like a false sense of strength. For the deadlifts I have no wieghts attatched because I'm still trying to get the technqiue down for my back, and having to have your ass out. So I check in the mirror to make sure I'm doing this right for a few more sesh's. I still do dumbell curls for a warmup though, and been doing more x country running of late but I hate the dirt getting into my lungs on the mountain and my throat gets really dry when I get to the top.

Doing curls to wrm up for squats and deadlifts is the equivalent driving a VW to prepare for the Grand Prix.  ::)

http://youtube.com/watch?v=byhIkytdERk - Wow, that looks really dangerous.

I get what you mean though, so slow and steady doesn't necessarily win the race?

This is my final post in your journal.
#1. The body works as one whole unit. Train it as such.

#2. Fast twitch fibers are the muscle fibers you need to recruit to get big and strong.

#3. Fast twitch fibers are recruited through explosive concentric contractions.

#4. Isolation exercises aka peripheral training is perfect for developing imbalances which lead to dysfunction and injury.

#5. Isolation training is only effective if you are a genetic freak or on performance enhancing drugs.

#6. Machines isolate body parts and inhibit synergistic development which leads to dysfunction and injury.

#7. If you eat like shit you will look like shit.

#8. Good luck! If you don't understand any of the above I can no longer try to help you.
