Friday 1st Jan 2010

Worked 8 -6 today so completed a short run after work (5Mile)

This was around the 3rd day of attempting a paleo diet. felt ok, nothing to complain about!

Saturday 2nd Jan

Ran early this morning, was very cold and ran on empty..did around 1hr at a steady tempo, ate fruits and plenty of fluids on returning. felt quite spent at end of run but thats to be expected doing a 'bonk' run.

Sunday 3rd jan

Bike today with club boys, was real cold again, did around 4 hours mostly at a steady tempo with one or two harder bursts.(this was due to stopping for a leak and having to chase back on!) Ate fruits before ride and had some eggs during a stop. i was ready to blow at getting home, ca really feel the lack of carbs at the moment, my body feels like its going to shut down in a fit of random trembling! Although, this is nothing i havnt felt before, especially at the end of a hard  race. I would usually have taken gels and some flat coke, but in the interests of converting to being more reliant on fats, i think its necessary to stick it out.

Monday 4th jan

Slept in today and feel quite good, for  a change. will be swimming from 12 - 1 with a few weights before. had fruits with espresso for breakfast. ive used soya for around 12 months now and really seem to be missing it in tea and coffee...

See how my swim is today then...havnt swam for 2 weeks following a chest infection. probrably return to my washing machine impersonator!

Thats swim training done... technique was ok actually, did 100 laps then a 20min run followed by some core work. getting into some raw veg now?!...Work at 3pm tho, it always gets in the way of things!

My stomach felt fine during the swim and run, i was initially a bit concerned as in the past, the more fibourous foods i eat the more i tend to get an upset stomach when running. All looking good so far with the diet tho!

Tuesday 5th jan

Took the morning off today, working 3- 1 again and didnt sleep well last nigh. Plan on 1 day off every 2 weeks so decided to have it today...its snowing too so its turned out ok.

Fell off the wagon a bit today and had a crunchie choc bar! had a massive craving for sweet stuff and there is a lot of choc left over from christmas...hmm. feel worse now tho!

Wednesday 6yh jan

Had poor sleep last night following getting hme from work at around 0200hrs.

Everywhere was covered in about 4 inches of snow this morning so my long ride was reduced to an interval session on the Turbo, completed 20min warm up followed by a pyramid session of 1min strength/big gear interval, 1min recovery..this was mirrored with 2min on 2 off up to 4 min on 4 off then back down. 10min warm down.

Ifind these sessions tough, not only physically but mentally too...sitting in the kitchen busting yo ass!

On a lighter note, my stomach feels good following greatly increasing my fruit/veg intake over past week, having more lean meats at the moment, but this is due to convenience.

I did however feel sick after having my choc bar yesterday...it always seems like a good idea at the time!
