First things first- "Tone" is a state of muscle dynamic. Muscle is either tone or flaccid. Tone muscle supports structure. Flaccid muscle does not. Example- A paraplegic has flaccid muscle below the waist and tone muscle above. A quadriplegic has flaccid muscle below the neck and tone muscle above.
Sorry, that use of the word "tone" frustrates me! The fitness industry perpetuates that ignorance of proper use. It has become a standard and it's incorrect.
What you are describing is muscle development and definition.
I have found for myself and especially working with clients, that, it's best to focus on the journey and not the destination. Eat right, train hard, have fun and enjoy the process. You'll get there a lot more efficiently.
One of the things I have been enjoying in this process is not looking at my body. My GF will make a comment that something has changed, ie. "waist looks smaller", "pecs look bigger", "back is looking more muscular", "abs look sharper", etc... and that inspires me to look in the mirror. Then I get the "OH WOW!" feeling of discovery. It's really cool!
"ENJOY THE JOURNEY!"- Craig Kelly
I agree with that. I lose the most weight when I don't weigh myself--and don't even think about losing weight....and by "weight" I mean fat.
