new rule
« on: August 20, 2009, 01:31:16 PM »
No advertising links in your signature.  If you have an advertising link I will delete your post regardless of what the content of the post is.

We have a ton of accounts on this board that have these links in their signatures.  Their posts are usually either weird, disjointed, copy&pasted from another site, or inappropriate to our subject matter.  This rule probably will never apply to our "regulars," but I just wanted everyone to know I am now going zero tolerance on these other accounts even though sometimes the posts themselves are rather innocuous.

FIRST: No advertising in signatures should be world wide; thanks for doing it to this site.  SECOND: I am an official "Old Fart" with limited technical experience and would like to put a non-advertising signature at the end of my posts.  How do I do that?  The confused, JMull

First, make sure you're logged in.  Then go up to the dark blue bar at the top of the site and click on "profile," which should bring you to your own profile.  On this page there should be a box on the left labeled "modify profile," where you can click on a link called "forum profile information."  Click this link and it will allow you to edit your profile, including your signature.  Once you've finished, click the "change profile" button at the bottom of the page.

Let me know if you need any more help!

KALLYN:  I appreciate your instructions.  If I followed them correctly, my new signature should appear.  Thanks, JMull

KALLYN:  It worked!!!!  I've joined the computer generation, thanks to you.  For a man impressed by a telephone and amazed by a fax machine, I've gone beyond by self-set limitations.  Thanks, again, JMull

Jmull is a bit of a technologically backwards nerd.  I think he stole that tag line though...lol.  And I am not talking about from that insurance company. :D

Does this mean I can't link to my line of knapped spear heads?
