Here in Ohio it's illegal to sell it but not to buy it. So my farmer has you buy a herdshare so that you are drinking the milk from "your" cow hence it's legal. You are basically paying room and board for the cow!

Thanks. How do you manage to eat that much protien? I was totally satisfied yesterday with what I ate and only got 79g. If I do 1g per pound of body weight on those days that I go to the gym and lift rather than just workout that's 200+g a day.

What % of that fat is from vegetable sources?

I don't think any was from veg sources. I had bacon and eggs for breakfast, a grilled chicken salad for lunch and then shrimp sauteed in ghee and cabbage fried in bacon drippings for dinner.

So I tracked all my foods today via paleotrack with the exception of ghee since it didn't have that as a food item. It broke down to 51% fat, 34% protien and 15% carbs. Or 79g protein, 52g fat and 34g carbs. Is this okay or do I need to tweek it a little. I am aiming to lose weight. Today is my first official day back on paleo after falling off the wagon last week.

Brussel sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower and beets are wonderful roasted in the oven! I toss them with whatever fat, whatever spices I have and then roast in a 425 degree oven till done. Absolutely yummy!!!!

I think that's exactly it...too much other stuff and not enough fat. Last night I roasted some brussel sprouts in ghee along with the pot roast I made. I didn't eat much, but I was satisfied.

Well, today started with the best of intentions, and then derailed! I fell back onto my go-to crunchy snack...dry Cheerios with some chocolate chips tossed in!  :-\ Oh well, my do-over is steak and veggies for dinner!

Found this recipe, and since I have a toddler with tummy troubles I would love to make it. Not to mention that it sounds heavenly! Does anyone know where to find spiced ghee? There is nothing listed under the resources for the recipe.

I can, I just have to remember to get to the Farmer's Market on Sat mornings. I asked my farmer if they had tallow and they don't, but they do offer lard. I am waiting for a response as to how much I have to get at once. I would hate to buy large quantites and have the rest of the family not like it. I don't cook seperate meals, so what I eat everyone eats! I can also get grass-fed butter and cream if I purchase a herdshare which is ridiculously cheap, but I'm not sure if I need to go that route yet.

The other answer would be to get up earlier and not get engrossed in the book by the side of the bed! ;) I have decided to forgo that route and stick with what works, just earlier. I'll save the smoothies for if the girls ask for them!

I think the water and salt was the main issue this morning. I meant to fry up some bacon which would have fixed the salt, but I ran out of time. I'll try that next time.

Thanks Warren. I've been trying to up my actual water intake and not relying on tea. Right now the only additional fats I'm eating that isn't on the meat is olive oil and butter. I have some coconut oil, but haven't used it yet. I have actually needed it for anything. Most of the veggies have been steamed. I guess I could have used it tonight when I roasted cauliflower, but I went for the olive oil out of habit.
