Interviews / Re: What made you decide to try out Paleo Diet?

One of my customers who is retired doctor recognises the benefits of low carb, high protein 'diet'.  He's not paleo, but his sentiments echo what we on this forum know.

I'm here after lapsing, and my motivation is really to improve the quality and duration of my life, broadly speaking.

Recipes and meal photos / Paleo biscuits recipe anywhere?
« on: September 03, 2013, 09:01:30 AM »
Does anyone have a recipe for these, please?

I'm especially interested in very low salt and sugar recipes, if that's possible.

Hope this isn't a tall order.

I saw that too.  If they used corn syrup, would they have to put that on the label, or does the word 'sugar' imply that the sweetness in the sauce is from corn syrup?

Dates, they are a weakness, I live in the Middle East and am surrounded by the best dates in the world!  There are 3 specialty date shops less than 5 minutes from my house!

Damn those medjools!

I'd like to try the Heinz version WITHOUT the sugar added - then add in my own sweetener if I thought it was needed, if at all.

Diet and nutrition / Re: Margarine

Because proper butter is whisked milk that's separated, isn't it?  Sometimes with salt added, sometimes not.

I made some butter ages ago and I got two products - the solids and the buttermilk.  I notice that the latter is also found in margarine.  Anyway, the solids are just that - very solid!

I also wonder why some butters have different shades of yellow colour to them.  The 'President' brand I buy is very pale in appearance.

What's the general view on margarine?

Not just from a paleo POV, but generally.  What to make of the ingredients of what we call in the uk, 'Utterly Butterly', etc.?

I think the trick with fat is to cook it to a crisp, as it is, as you say, repulsive.  Especially when humans are carrying it around their guts.

Chicken skin?  Yuck, unless covered in breadcrumbs and deep fried... uh oh...
