Recipes and meal photos / Re: Eating Out
« on: March 17, 2014, 01:30:53 PM »
I havent mastered this yet. I usually try to just stick to it as best as possible.  Substituting non paleo items for extra servings of veggies...and asking for no sauces/glazes that typically come on most of the meats. And I ate at an italian place recently and they had gluten free options which was helpful..but basically they will almost always accomodate you. The only thing I havent tried asking is the way they prepare the food. Like with what oils and things. Becuase im sure theyre not paleo. But not sure if you can control that or not.

So I went shopping the other day to get a new dress for a wedding this Saturday. ..and Im fitting into small sized dresses now.  So awesome! I also bought a new pair of jeans and discovered I am now a size 8 (a little loose) instead of a tight fitting 10. I dont think ive been that size ever in my adult life!

Miscellaneous / Re: Natural ways to treat your body?
« on: February 27, 2014, 06:34:19 AM »
Ive also noticed my migraines. ...which ive suffered horribly from since I was a little kid...even had to get a cat scan when I was about 5 to make sure everything was okay...have become milder. I usually would get one atleast 1-2 times a month...since starting paleo 8 weeks ago I think I've gotten 1 migraine and some tension headaches (those were most likely associated 2ith lack of sleep). Im super excited about that :)
Thanks for the tips guys!

So I was looking on amazon for some paleo foods...and wad wondering if any of you have ordered food items on amazon before? There are certain flours and things I cant find locally so I was thinking of ordering them.
I also came across these

And was wondering if anyone has tried them or knows if they truly are paleo??

Miscellaneous / Natural ways to treat your body?
« on: February 24, 2014, 12:58:44 PM »
One thing I havent read much about the paleo diet is whether or not paleo followers also go natural when it comes to treating colds or headaches or pain etc or for things like shampoo and soaps

Do you use natural products to treat yourself? If so can you give me some ideas?

I already use a natural pain reliever spray for my back pain but I get migraines and ill tend to go to tons of tylenol when I get one. I do have a natural sinus oil that helps sometimez but not often.
And I also use natural goats milk soap in the shower which I love.

Id also be interested in Natural cold remedies as well
Thanks! :)

Miscellaneous / spirulina and kombucha?
« on: February 20, 2014, 03:55:54 PM »
So I found two local stores that grow and sell their own fruits and veggies yesterday. ..and one of the shops sold frozen spirulina packs...spirulina ice cream..and kombucha (with all the lovely floaty bacteria things)

Ive heard of both kombucha and spirulina in the "paleo world" and was wondering if any of you use it...and if is beneficial to often you should take it..etc

Bought a pack of spirulina because I was curious but afraid to try it with out some feedback!

So my birthday is Friday and I wanted to bake myself a "paleo" birthday cake. I think I found a recipe that's pretty good.
But there are two ingredients I cant find anywhere that I need substitutions for.
One is arrowroot powder and the other is palm shortening.
Here is the recipe

It says I can use butter instead of shortening for the cake part...but what about the frosting?
And for tje arrowroot...can I use tapioca starch? Is that paleo? And would it be the same amounts?

Pleeeease any advice would be helpful. Id like to bake it tomorrow night!

Miscellaneous / blender or food processor?
« on: February 18, 2014, 01:43:57 PM »
So ive come across many recipes that call for a blender or food processor. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on a good one (one or the other) that can do most things. Also one that can hold a decent amount.

Recipes and meal photos / spaghetti squash seeds??
« on: February 18, 2014, 10:33:20 AM »
So since starting the paleo diet at the beginning of january...ive probably prepared anywhere from 6-10 spaghetti squashes. I cant get enough of them!

After the first couple of them though I started thinking about whether or not I could use the seeds to get more for my money?

I feel like you could because they seem similar to pumpkin seeds.
So my questions are...if you they taste good? How would I cook them? And if I put them in a long could I keep them refrigerated before they went bad?

So I had my trial class tonight and I loved it! Ive never had such an instense workout that was so short. That was awesome! The gym looks like a great place and the people all seem to be very knowledgeable.  They even includr a paleo nutrition guide in their fundamentals course. My trainer said almost everyone that works out there follows the paleo diet.

WIll definitely be going back once I use up a little more of my gym membership I have now

I will definitely be paying attention to what they ask me to do though. I pulled my back out a year ago at work (I work with dogs and 2 huge pits pulled me in two different directions and really messed me up) so I don't need to be doing anything thats going to aggravate it

Wow that looks like a really nifty machine! Unfortunately the treadmill is not just mine..I bought it for my mom and I yo share..and she refuses to let me sell it.
If I can get the garage cleared out and convince them to let me use it for working out, then maybe. But for now I can only use small equiptment :(
