How long did it take you to adjust to a paleo life style?

Substantial amounts of fruit can make weight loss more difficult for women.

What's considered a substantial amount?

Kale chips?  ???  The last time I tried Kale chips, I threw them away.  Any specific brand that might taste yummy?

nikpaleo, I understand the dilemma... not snacking at work is the hardest for me.  I can't do nuts or eggs either.

Question, why no fruit?

This question is for you hard core Paleo's.

Have you ever just gave in to a dish of pasta or bread stick?

Thank you for your responses.

I never have sweets at home other than banana's, berries, etc...  It's what's at work which is the hardest.  The crap that gets brought to the office on a daily basis.  Some days I'm strong, most days I'm not.

There there are the days that I will stop on my way home from work for reeses cups or ice cream.  I'm not even hungry.

I don't drink soda's or sweetened juices.

I try to have dark chocolate available at work for the days that I really feel the need but then I end up eating them all.

The cravings are usually at work.  At home, I'm much better, most likely because there is nothing around me.

Thank you Warren and Eric for your responses.

Warren, I don't know what you mean by cold meat.  Sliced turkey?

I know every bad thing there is to know about sugar.  I feel like a smoker when it comes to sweets.  I know it's bad for my health but I still do it.  I quit, then I go back, I quit again and go back again.  Sugar is my drug.

How do I get off this roller coaster?  I lose 10lbs the month I quit, gain it right back.  This has been such a viscous cycle in my life.  I've already had breast cancer, now I have lymphocytic colitis... what will it take??

Do any of you have this horrific addiction?

Thanks for the response Warren.

I have such gut problems... I was diagnosed this year with lymphocytic colitis, also had some testing at enterolab which showed up so many food intolerance's.  Gluten, dairy, soy, EGG and CHICKEN as well.  Do you know how depressing that is?  I love eggs and chicken  :-[

I shouldn't eat raw veggies because of the colitis so not being a fan of cooked veggies, this is hard.  Although I could eat cooked veggies in a stew or soup.  I made a turkey soup last week, not so bad.

What does one snack on??  Nuts give me a problem too.  I showed a reaction to almonds and walnuts.  Other nuts weren't tested.

I have suffered for over a year now with a bloated and cramping belly.  I must admit, since I ditched the gluten, it has gotten better.

I have heard so many progress stories of changing to a Paleo life style.

I sort of already have begun since I gave up cereal, bread, pasta and most grains.  I was told I could eat quinoa but I'm not so sure yet.

I don't drink milk or have yogurt.

I do however have my cheat days and eat ice cream (weekends).

I am not a faithful paleo and I would really like to adhere to this but it seems complicated.  I also would like to lose 40lbs.

Anyway, I hope to obtain a lot of info from this forum and steer my life in the right direction.
